I was rather shocked to read your letter to "Guardian", but not disappointed I must say, as it was predictable.
So here's an answer to YOUR "proud" sayings:
1. "I am a Greek by choice". You can NOT choose to be Greek. You need to have it in you and you DO NOT! Greek people are Greek "by destiny" no matter what place on earth they're at.
2. (Talking about choice) You ARE a "Member of the Greek Parliament", but not because you were chosen by the people of Greece
3. I can understand perfectly well why you left your life in the US behind. What I can't understand is what tempted you so much as to participate in a killing
4. The people of Greece do NOT need this kind of help. We do not ask you to love a country that you don't consider your own, some sympathy for your fellow human beings would be enough though
5. Yes, it's Greece's most difficult times after the World War II, but once more it's only the people suffering from all this
6. George Papandreou is actually making a genuine effort to sell Greece out and extinguish its people, because he also is American "by destiny", just like you are. At this point I would like to congratulate you both for being such U.S. patriots, as people working for the interests of THEIR country, should always be admired.
7. "reverse decades of misgovernment"???? Are you saying his grandfather AND his father did everything wrong and he is here to correct their mistakes? About the "reverse" word, he certainly has turned everything upside down. I agree.
8. I would not describe you as a non-Greek because of some WORDS that accidentally came out of your mouth, but because of your contribution to Greece's sell-out and to Greek people's murder.
Thanks for reading
P.S. I tried to do my best in writing this in your native language, so you can understand better what I had to say. Please forgive any mistakes, as my native language is Greek
